Helping older adults stay safe in the home they love

Our occupational therapist assesses how you actually move through your home, then Avalon’s own crews make the changes that keep you independent — grab bars, walk-in showers, ramps, stair rails, better lighting, and more.

Assessment & Modifications, One Company

Most contractors sell you a product. We start with a plan.

Avalon Home Access is the aging-in-place division of Avalon Industries LLC — the same operations company behind Avalon Plumbing. We pair a licensed occupational therapist with skilled, background-checked crews so one accountable team handles everything from the first walkthrough to the final grab bar.

The occupational therapist looks at how you move through your day — getting in the front door, using the bathroom, managing stairs, reaching the kitchen — and identifies what’s working against you now and what’s likely to in the next few years. You get a clear, prioritized report. Then we build exactly what you choose, nothing you don’t.

What We Do

Home modifications for safety and independence

The most common work we’re asked to do. Every project starts from the assessment, so you only pay for what actually helps.

Bathroom Safety

Grab bars anchored into the framing, curbless and walk-in showers, tub-to-shower conversions, comfort-height toilets, and slip-resistant flooring.

Ramps & Entry Access

Aluminum and custom-built ramps, threshold ramps, handrails, and no-step entries so getting in and out is safe in any weather.

Stair Lifts & Railings

Straight and curved stair lifts installed and serviced, plus sturdy railings on both sides of interior and exterior stairs.

Doorway & Hallway Widening

Widening doorways to 32 inches or wider, swing-clear hinges, and lever handles throughout for walkers and wheelchairs.

Kitchen Modifications

Accessible-height work areas, roll-under sinks, pull-out shelving, drawer-style cabinets, lever faucets, and better task lighting.

Whole-Home Fall Prevention

Removing trip hazards, low-pile flooring, brighter and motion-activated lighting, rocker switches, and stairway contrast.

How It Works

From first call to finished work

A clear path, so families know what to expect before anyone visits the home.

1

Free Consultation

A no-cost phone call to understand the situation, the goals, the timeline, and the budget you’re working with.

2

In-Home Assessment

The occupational therapist visits, watches how the person moves through the space, and identifies risks and barriers.

3

Written Recommendations

A prioritized report — safety-critical first — with good / better / best options at different price points. Yours to keep.

4

We Do the Work

A fixed-scope proposal for what you choose, then a clean, respectful install by Avalon’s own crews.

Who We Help

Built around real situations

Older adults staying home

You’ve decided to stay in your own home and want it to keep working for you as things change.

Adult children arranging help for a parent

You want an honest assessment and one company you can trust to do the work — often from out of town.

Coming home after a hospital stay

A fall, a stroke, a surgery, or a new diagnosis means the home needs to change quickly and safely.

Aging with a disability

You’re planning ahead for a progressive condition and want modifications that anticipate what’s next.

Care managers & discharge planners

You need a reliable contractor partner who understands clinical recommendations and communicates clearly.

OTs, PTs & senior-move managers

You’ve made recommendations and need a team that will execute them correctly and on time.

The Assessment

The report is yours — whoever does the work

Our occupational-therapist assessment is a flat fee, quoted upfront. You get a written report with prioritized recommendations and options at different budgets. If you hire Avalon for the modifications, great. If you’d rather use your own handyman or do it in stages, the report is still yours to use however you like.

Most home modifications are paid for privately. Some costs may be offset by long-term care insurance, VA benefits, Medicaid waiver programs, or state and county programs — eligibility varies. We provide itemized documentation and a copy of the assessment to support any claim you choose to file.

Why Avalon

One accountable company

Clinically grounded

Recommendations come from an occupational therapist watching how you actually live — not from a product catalog.

Licensed & insured

All work is performed under Avalon Industries LLC, with full liability and workers’ compensation coverage.

Our own crews

Background-checked technicians who do this every day — consistent quality and respectful in your home.

No upsell

Prioritized plans with clear options. We’ll tell you what’s urgent, what can wait, and what you don’t need.
